Mission Statement

The mission of the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, NCPTA, is to improve the health, function and quality of life of individuals by representing, promoting and advancing the profession and best practice of physical therapy in North Carolina.
Adopted at the 8/4/2012 Board of Directors Meeting

Vision Statement

The vision of the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, NCPTA, is that physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who hold privileges of autonomous practice within a primary healthcare continuum. Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants will be recognized as the sole providers of physical therapy and the practitioners of choice in all clients’ networks. The people of North Carolina will have direct access to physical therapists in all environments for patient/client management, prevention, and wellness services.

The physical therapists and physical therapist assistants will be guided by professional standards in physical therapy and a commitment to lifelong learning, leadership, and mentoring. Physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who are doctors of physical therapy and who may be board certified specialists. All physical therapists and physical therapist assistants will recognize their responsibilities to be active participants in their professional association and to advocate for patients with a commitment to accessible comprehensive healthcare that reflects evidence based best practice and service for improved function and quality of health for North Carolinians.

Values Statement

NCPTA provides a unified voice for members to protect and advance the physical therapy profession by promoting affordable education, appropriate reimbursement, legislative advocacy, and excellence in all venues of professional practice. The Association brings together a community of like-minded professionals committed to promoting respect for the profession through evidence based practice and quality patient care.
